I am 55yo male approx 70lbs overweight w/heart failure, so my cardiologist prescribed Ozempic. Last Saturday was my first dose and was supposed to be .25mg. I tested my pen and liquid came out, so I set it to .25, held it in firmly, pressed the end button and nothing happened (for ten seconds). So I backed off the pressure and pressed it again and the counter turned and it seemed to work. But when I looked at the injection site there was no hole and the liquid didn’t seem to go down at all in the pen. I figured it didn’t work. So, I reset to .25mg and did it again, carefully ensuring the needle was inserted in my skin and the counter turned down the first time. When I removed it it looked the same as the first one (no hole) and the liquid didn’t really go down. So I realized I likely dosed myself twice and had given myself .5mg to start.

The next day the medicine kicked in hard. I would describe it as feeling of slightly sick to my stomach and food just didn’t sound good anymore. I had protein shakes, salads, fruit, and fish every day and lost fiv pounds this week, but I had a few rough days where the nausea feeling was really strong as were subtle acid burping all day long.

So, now it is a week later Saturday. I am debating if I should take the second dose of .25mg or wait a week and let things settle down. The half life is seven days and it stays in the system for as long as five weeks, so in theory I would still have 25mg in my system today. I’d ask my cardiologist, but it is a Saturday today on thanksgiving weekend. So I will likely error on holding off.

Has anyone else accidentally taken too much at one dose? Did you skip the next dose?

Hi BeachOz,

I appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience with Ozempic. I'm not a medical professional, but I can offer some general insights.

It is crucial to emphasize that I'm not providing medical advice, and consulting your cardiologist is always the best course of action.

Accidentally taking a higher dose of Ozempic can indeed lead to increased side effects. Given your situation, it might be prudent to err on the side of caution and consider holding off on the second dose until you can consult with your cardiologist.

In the meantime, you may want to closely monitor your symptoms and, if possible, keep a record of any changes you notice. This information could be valuable when discussing your experience with your doctor.

Take care of your health!

Hey, just take it and see how you feel over the coming days and drink of water if that helps.
