I lost 30 pounds in two months...so, very quick weight loss. A few weeks later I had a physical and my bad cholesterol levels are through the roof. I've never had cholesterol issues before and am otherwise healthy and at my goal weight. I exercise regularly. I eat well.

I read somewhere rapid weight loss could do that temporarily by stored fat going into bloodstream.

anyone have this issue? like, i'm at "you're going to die of a stroke at any second" levels of high

Hello AAustin, welcome!

Let me just tell you congratulations on your great weight loss:)
Although I'm not a doctor, I can offer some general information that might be helpful. According to my own research, rapid weight loss can indeed lead to temporary increases in cholesterol levels for several reasons. You are right I believe, as one theory says that when you lose weight quickly, the body releases stored fat into the bloodstream, which can temporarily raise cholesterol levels. Additionally, rapid weight loss may lead to changes in the balance of various hormones, which can influence cholesterol metabolism.

If you've experienced rapid weight loss and are now seeing significantly elevated cholesterol levels, it's crucial to consult a healthcare provider. Maybe even undergo further tests to assess your overall cardiovascular health and determine the most appropriate course of action. It's also possible that your cholesterol levels may stabilize as your body adjusts to its new weight.

In the meantime, continuing to eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and maintain your goal weight are all positive steps for your overall health. Still, I always advocate consulting a doctor first for any unclear health problem.

Wishing you well and please let us know how it's going!

I’ve had this same problem. At 200 lbs, my cholesterol was normal. At 158 lbs it is high. My pcp put me on 2 different statins…Lipitor & Eztimibe. I can’t take them. I get charliehorses in my legs, feet and chest. I see my pcp in the latter part of June. I have to do a blood test before my appointment. I’m hoping the cholesterol is back down. I took the statins for 6 weeks and couldn’t get out of bed my muscles were so knotted up. So, I’m not taking those things even if the cholesterol is high.
