I have just begun Ozempic. How much protein should you eat. I planned on eating 2 eggs and bacon for breakfast, some hummus or cottage cheese for lunch and dinner eat chicken breast, seared scallops , shrimp salad, liver just as example. Does that sound like enough? The strange thing about me is I’m not sure how much it will help. I’m hoping forcing myself to eat will help. You see I have never had an appetite so the majority of the time I don’t eat anything till maybe at night and that may be an English muffin or a yogurt because I’m not in the mood for food. I’ve been told that not eating turns everything I do eat turn to fat. Advice on what to eat. I’ll try to drink 64oz of water. I usually drink half of that. Thanks

Hello, @Rell123 welcome to the forum! :)
It's great to hear that you've started on Ozempic and are taking steps towards managing your health. Your planned meals seem like a good start, but I'd like to offer some suggestions and advice to help you optimize your eating habits while considering your medication and appetite challenges.

Protein intake is important, but it's also essential to have a well-rounded diet that includes a variety of nutrients. Your breakfast idea of 2 eggs and bacon is a decent source of protein, but consider adding some vegetables or whole grains for additional fiber and nutrients.

For lunch and dinner, including lean proteins like chicken breast, seared scallops, and shrimp is excellent. However, try to balance these with a mix of vegetables and complex carbohydrates like brown rice, quinoa, or sweet potatoes. This will help provide sustained energy and a broader range of nutrients.

Since you mentioned having a limited appetite, it's crucial to prioritize nutrient-dense foods when you do eat. Hummus and cottage cheese are good sources of protein and healthy fats for lunch. Adding a variety of colourful vegetables and whole grains can help you get more nutrients.

Drinking water is essential, so aiming for 64 ounces a day is a good goal. If you find it challenging to drink that much, you can start by gradually increasing your intake over time or adding some lemon juice, berries, mint whatever you enjoy to make your water taste brighter.

Regarding the idea that not eating turns everything into fat, it's not entirely accurate. Skipping meals can slow down your metabolism and lead to muscle loss, but it doesn't mean everything you eat turns into fat. Consistently nourishing your body with balanced meals can help maintain a healthy metabolism.

Since you're adjusting to a new medication and trying to improve your eating habits, it might be beneficial to consult a registered dietitian or healthcare professional. They can provide personalized guidance based on your medical history, preferences, and goals.

Remember, making small, sustainable changes over time is key to building healthier habits. Best of luck on your journey to better health, and feel free to reach out if you have more questions!
